Cashews nuts:

One of our favorite most popular nuts as indicated by its names. The term cashew is derived from the Portuguese term ‘Caju’ meaning ‘kidney tree’. This is because the tree’s fruit is kidney-shaped from which we can derive the nuts. Portuguese were the first to introduce cashew from Brazil.

Cashews come from cashew trees, which were the native origin of Brazil, now grown in most of the countries around the world. Not a nut, cashews are seeds that are obtained from the underside of the cashew apple or the cashew fruit. Covered by several layers of toxic elements, cashews are also wrapped in kidney-shaped structures.
They are generally processed in machines, it is because they are too expensive to waste. Overall cashews are a great source of vitamin K, dietary fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, copper, manganese, magnesium.

Are raw cashews edible?

Cashews aren't toxic, but the shells they are surrounded by are toxic layers containing urushiol elements. Health professionals advise that to consume the cashew after the processing only because urushiol is liable to cause dermatitis, also coming in contact with them can cause itching and irritation. It is good that the cashews are carefully and reticulated in such a way that it leaves no signs of urushiol. It is very easy to remove the toxic layers simply by roasting the cashews.
